Imperatives
Study these sentences.

• Open it.
• Switch on the electricity.
• Repair it first.
• Don't use these broken wires.
In the sentences above the verb forms check, open, switch, repair and don't use
are called "imperatives". Affirmative imperatives have the same form as the infinitive
without to; negative imperatives are constructed with do not (don't) + infinitive.
Imperatives are used, for example, to tell or ask people what to do, to make
suggestions to give advice or instructions, to encourage and offer, and to express
wishes for people's welfare.
